DESCRIPTION:During the last few years\, the Longest Night has become a special part of our Advent Services. It is a service of prayers\, special music\, and reflection. Participants are invited to a time of prayer for their needs and for the world. You will also have the opportunity to light a candle for those individuals and concerns on your heart in this year’s season. \nThe liturgy we follow describes the longest night this way: “For those who have experienced loss\, the holidays can be a particularly painful time\, stirring up grief in acute ways. As a result\, churches around the world have adopted the practice of having a “Blue Christmas” or a “Longest Night” service during the Advent season. Do you love sharing the Good News of the Gospel?  We are looking for 30 volunteers to ride with our Share Ministry Team in the “Tis the Season Spectacular” parade on Wednesday\, Nov 27. It is sooooo easy! Just wear Christmas colors and show up at First Pres Parking lot at 1pm on 11/27.  Our church van will take you to the start of the parade where you will board the F & M Trolley. You can ride the F & M Trolley or walk along beside the Trolley. Blaine Smith will be on the Trolley singing Christmas songs.  The Parade begins at 3pm and continues along Main Street in Salisbury until Stallings Baptist Church. DESCRIPTION:Two Cents A Meal is a small first step in the battle against hunger and poverty. Congregations invite every\nmember — of all ages — to contribute a few cents at every meal. This simple act is an expression of thanks\nfor what we have received. It is also a commitment to share with others in response to Jesus’ command “You\ngive them something to eat.” Two cents a meal equals 6 cents a day\, 42 cents a week\, and $1.68 a month – from one church member.  We have this offering at First Pres Salisbury quarterly.
