SUMMARY:Fall Kick Off Reception
DESCRIPTION:We are back after summer schedules and summer breaks! Join us on Sunday\, August 16 as we kick off a new Sermon Series\, celebrate new programs with a reception in the Courtyard\, and settle into our normal worship service times again. Our 8:30am Life Center Worship Service (LCW)  is a contemporary-style service in Lewis Hall with a live band. This service is not live-streamed; however\, you may view pre-recorded LCW services on our YOUTUBE channel.  Our 11am Sanctuary Worship Service is a traditional service with our organ and choirs in our Sanctuary building. This worship service is live-streamed weekly. \nFrom 9:45-10:45am we will gather in our Courtyard and catch up after summer vacations.  There will be lemonade and cookies. Our staff and team captains will be available to talk ALL ABOUT our new fall season and programming.

SUMMARY:First Pres Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday August 16 at 2pm\, we are thrilled to welcome The Astralis Chamber Ensemble to our sanctuary for an “Evening in France\,” the next concert in our First Presbyterian Concert Summer Series. Flutist Angela Massey\, Cellist Edward Luengo\, and Harpist Li Shan Tan have been praised as “scary good” and “truly riveting.” They’ll bring us an afternoon of Fauré\, a challenging trio by Ibert\, and expressive works by two wonderful female composers\, Boulanger and Renié. This is a rare chance to hear this combination of instruments performed at such a high level\, right here in our Sanctuary in Salisbury. Come\, bring a friend\, and let your soul be fed for an afternoon. Save that date!

SUMMARY:New Young Parents Sunday School Class
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever planned on dropping your kid off at Sunday School and thought\, “What am I going to do for an hour?” We have wonderful Sunday School classes at First Pres. From Open Horizons and Outlook to Sisters and Everyman’s—there are already classes that would love for you to join them. But if you’re longing to connect with other parents and start out with a class that is as new as you\, come to Parents Sunday School in the Kirby Library (across from the bathrooms near Lewis Hall) 9:45-10:45am. This class is going to be a casual gathering of parents over coffee\, doughnuts\, and the shared experience of being in this phase of life. In the fall\, we’ll start out spending some time each week reading the scripture for worship or enjoying a meaningful devotion together. Come join us! Get on the ground floor of building a new class and a new community of friendship and support. We will begin on August 16!

DESCRIPTION:Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Course – Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 PM\, September 9 – Oct 28 \nWhat does it actually look like to live a Christian life in our world? Is discipleship more than just being nice and volunteering some hours at church? As we’ll explore in our WWJD sermon series this fall\, the answer is an unequivocal YES! Jesus calls us to follow him in every aspect of our lives: work\, home\, finances\, friendships\, commitments\, and more. The Emotionally Healthy Spirituality course taught by respected pastor Pete Scazzero and facilitated here by Kia Creamer will help you do just that: Give God your whole heart and life.  \nWe have hosted this course twice at First Pres over the last couple of years with select groups of leaders. Now we are opening the course up to the congregation. We want First Pres to become a church that goes deeper with Christ with a slowed down spirituality that is rooted an a Biblical framework\, ancient spiritual practices\, and a guide to live it out in our modern world. \nEmotionally Healthy Spirituality will be hosted on Wednesday nights 5:30-7:00 PM in the Youth Room for 8-weeks starting September 9. Registration is required and space is limited. DESCRIPTION:JOY kicks off their season with a fun evening out! Anyone 55 or older is encouraged to attend\, share in a delicious meal at Romano’s at 5pm\, and then attend the MOONGLOWS concert at 7pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Downtown Salisbury. \nThe Moonglows are a five-part vocal harmony group based in Salisbury\, North Carolina. Featuring Kay Peeler\, Kent Bernhardt\, Ann Dandison\, Carol Harris\, and John Brincefield\, they delight audiences with tight harmonies and jazzy arrangements of popular favorites from the 1940s through today’s popular hits. The group performs at a variety of venues throughout the Piedmont Triad area. \nFree admission\, with donations welcome to support Arts at St. Luke’s programming.
