Community Ministries
RACE AND JUSTICE MINISTRY TEAM
The First Pres Race and Justice Ministry Team (RJMT) is committed to opening our hearts and minds to Jesus’ call for justice for all people. With a multi-denomination and multi-cultural team, our RJMT focuses on opportunities to build relationships and community through fellowship and learning. Always open to bringing people to the conversation, RJMT offers discussion groups throughout the year, book study, socials, field trips, and small group journeys addressing the elephant in the room for many Christians (racism). The team also helps to leads several community events and initiatives. Debbie Collins is the Team Captain for RJMT.
SEASONAL OUTREACH
First Pres is seeking to reach out into the community and invite others to our campus to learn and grow with us through meaningful yearly events. Our Lewis Preaching Series brings a prominent preacher to lead us in a day of learning typically in early February. Our Lenten Prayer Breakfast often partners with the Race and Justice Ministry Team to invite local leaders to speak at a weekly breakfast throughout the season leading up to Easter called Lent. In June, our Vacation Bible School invites community children into our campus to learn more about Jesus. If you’re interested in a short term volunteering opportunity, this is a great ministry for you. LeeAnna Hoskins is the Team Captain for Seasonal Outreach.
