Welcome

Worship draws us into a communal encounter with God that sustains our faith each week. All of our worship services include the same scripture, sermon, prayer, praise, confession, and a children’s sermon. We have two Sunday worship services at First Presbyterian Salisbury. Our nursery is available for children (newborn through PreK 4) during both services.

Life Center Worship (LCW)
At 8:30am on Sundays, we gather in Lewis Hall for a contemporary-style service with a live band.

Sanctuary Worship
At 11:00am on Sundays, we gather in the Sanctuary for a traditional service with organ and choirs.

We know walking into a new church can be intimidating. Let us know when you’ll be attending your first worship service, and if you’d like, we will make sure someone is there to greet you and help you find your way around. Not ready to join us in person yet? You can worship with us at 11am online (live) on our Facebook page or our YouTube Channel.

Also, there are some special Sundays or Sundays during summer break when we offer a “Unified Worship” service at 11am, blending both styles of worship. Please check our church calendar for those Unified Worship Sundays.

Frequently Asked Questions

For both Sunday worship services, please park in our visitor parking lot on W Innes St (near the intersection of W Innes St and S Fulton St if traveling toward downtown Salisbury). We also have handicap parking available in this same lot.

We encourage able members to park on W Fisher St, on S Jackson St, on S Fulton St, and in the bank parking lot across Fulton Street from our Sanctuary. Be sure to leave the ATM and drive-thru lanes open for bank customers.

You are welcome here no matter what you wear. For some, it is helpful to have a sense of what others might be wearing when coming to church. At our 8:30am Life Center Worship service, most people tend to dress business or smart casual and some wear jeans. At our 11:00am Sanctuary Worship service, most dress a bit more formally in business attire, some people wear suits. Again, you are welcome no matter how you dress.

When you arrive, you will be greeted by an usher who will give you a bulletin. The worship bulletin lists everything that will happen in worship. In the bulletin, asterisks * indicate moments when the congregation is standing and bold indicates parts that the congregation reads aloud together. At 8:30am Life Center Worship, words for songs will be projected on the front screen. At 11:00am Sanctuary Worship, hymns can be found by number in the purple Glory to God hymnal in your pew. Later in the service, we take a voluntary offering. You are not required to put any money into the offering plate, but if you feel moved to respond to what you’ve seen and experienced in worship, this is an opportunity to do so.

There are several ways to get involved at First Pres. You can reach out to a pastor, contact us by phone at (704) 636-1321, email us, or fill out our contact form. In worship, we invite the congregation to pass Friendship Pads where you can write your name and let us know you would like to get involved. We would love to help you find a place to grow more deeply in your faith and to serve the greater Rowan County community.

Yes! Children are a gift from God. They bless us with their wide-eyed wonder, gift for play, and never ending curiosity. Even the most noisy and wiggly children are welcome in both of our worship services. We offer coloring supplies to give children an outlet for wiggles while they worship. We also offer a secure nursery with child-protection trained caregivers for children (newborn – PreK 4) during worship. Some families bring their children to the nursery before worship. Others wait to bring their children to the nursery until after the Children’s Message. Ask an usher, greeter, or pastor for coloring supplies and directions to our nursery. We love to accommodate children’s special needs in worship. If your child has any special needs, let us know so that we can cherish them in their uniqueness.

Our nursery is open from 8:15 am to 12:15 pm on most Sunday mornings. During a special Sunday of Unified Worship at 11:00 am, our nursery is open from 9:15am-12:15pm.

Yes please! The Pastors at First Pres Salisbury want to know you. We try to make sure we introduce ourselves to every person who visits our church. If we miss you, introduce yourself to us. We will be thrilled to meet you.
