Annual Gather Events

Advent gatherings
Throughout Advent, the four weeks leading up to the birth of Christ, we are preparing and looking forward to the birth of Jesus. Each Sunday, we gather briefly before Sunday School for a time of refreshments and fellowship. The refreshments are provided by Sunday School classes.

christmas party
As Jesus broke bread with his followers and non-followers alike, we too as a body of Christ love to break bread together. In December, we gather, young and old, dress up in our Christmas finest or in our Ugly Christmas sweaters, and enjoy games, skits, music, and a meal together in Lewis Hall. This party is one of the highlights of the year.

tomato day
Annually in July, we gather as a family of Christ and enjoy the fruits of summer…the tomato. After 11:00am worship, we gather in Lewis Hall for lunch. BLT sandwiches, chips, and homemade desserts fill us up – while we renew friendships, meet new people, and strengthen our commitment to this body of Christ.

Church Picnic
Our church picnic takes us back to warm memories of homemade entrees, side dishes, and desserts in fellowship with our church family. We love this tradition and the “competition” to see who brings the crowd-favorites. We change up the season and location from time to time, but the smiles and full bellies are always the same. Don’t miss this year’s church picnic!

church retreat
Fun is the best way to describe our church-wide retreat. Currently hosted at Camp Caraway Conference Center, singles, couples, and families come together for a time of fun, fellowship, learning and worship. There is also plenty of free-time activities for all ages such as canoes, swimming in the lake, nature walks, games, activities, and porch-time sitting in rocking chairs.

From Pastor Lara...In Chicago’s Millennium Park, there is a world-famous sculpture called the Cloud Gate. I grew up knowing it by its common name: the Bean. It looks like an alien dropped a soft silver-plated kidney bean out of the sky and into the hard vertical lines of the Chicago skyline. While it was designed
